I haven’t quite yet worked out what I want to have displayed here on the home page, so it’s just a few photos from times I went outside.

This is Lion Rock at Piha in New Zealand. I was lucky enough to wander across the beach as the tide was half in and the water shallow enough to display this reflection of the rock on the tidal flat.

A photo taken while cautiously peering over an edge of Mount Hua in Shaanzi province, China.

Pohutukawa trees flowering over Taipa beach a few days after Christmas in the far north of New Zealand.

An almost-chartreuse pool at Wai o Tapu in New Zealand. A cloud of insects swarmed over it, hunted enthusiastically by the welcome swallows that nest in the banks of these geothermal pools.

Grass trees at the summit of Mount Mitchell in south-east Queensland’s hinterland.

The misleadingly named Crater lake, near the beginning of the Overland track in Tasmania. This is a lake carved out by glacial action, not a crater.
